Nicole Richie was surprised that she was booked, released, and then sent home in just over an hour(82 min.). Other people in her situation would be released in a couple of hours, but in her case it was sooner. This is most possibly because of her celebrity and the press that she brings to the situation. She was totally prepared to serve out her 96 hour sentence, that she was required to do and was very surprised of her early release. These charges stem from her 2nd DUI conviction, when she drove in the wrong lane on the California highway in Burbank in December.

Nicole Richie was booked at the Lynwood County Jail, where pal Paris Hilton served time earlier this year, at 3:15 this afternoon. She was sentenced in July for driving on the wrong side of the freeway in her 2nd DUI arrest. Superior Court Commissioner Steven K. Lubell handed down a sharp tongue-lashing to the pint-sized star as slapped her with a four-day sentence.”The facts of this case, as the court knows it, is pretty scary. Someone could have gotten killed or injured. The court does not want anything to happen to you,” Lubell told Richie.”If you continue to drive while under the influence of drugs or alcohol and someone gets killed, you can be charged with murder, not manslaughter.” “I hope that never, ever happens.”

He says that the murder charge would stick because she has two prior convictions. He says that it must be completed by September 28 and she must enroll in a rehab program and by Feb. 2008 must prove that she completed that program. She has been processed and is currently serving her 96 hour sentence.

I just learned that she only served 35 minutes in her cell released at 4:37 PM and her super lawyer got her out early. I am not very surprised, I didn’t think she’d even serve closer to 24 hours in jail. I guess we will just have to wait and see what will unfold next.

Rocker Joel Madden is in Canada without his pregnant girlfriend and rumoured fiancee, Nicole Richie, because a recent impaired-driving conviction is keeping Richie, 25, in the United States.

Good Charlotte performs as the opening act for Justin Timberlake in Toronto on Tuesday, and then heads west to Winnipeg for two weekend concerts and a show in Edmonton next week.

According to US Weekly, Nicole Richie must serve 96 hours at Lynwood County Jail by Sept. 28th for her DUI. “Usually [the sheriff] will interpret that as a sentence of four days and have her serve two,” says Santa Monica, California, criminal attorney Alec Rose. Count on a day off for good behavior, and “if you arrive at 11:50 p.m. and they book you in, you’ve served the day…I’d get the client in at 10:45 in case there’s a line.”

Nicole Richie and her baby’s daddy, Joel Madden are planning a September pre-jail wedding.“Joel said to Nicole, ‘Let’s get married before you go to jail,’” a source close to the couple reports. “She was so happy. He’s doing this so she feels secure behind bars. The last thing he wants is for her to worry about where they’re at while she’s in jail.”At this point, the couple is planning for a September 21st wedding, primarily because not only does Joel have a 19-day break from his current concert tour with his band, Good Charlotte, but it will also be Nicole’s birthday! If they stick to that plan, Richie, will likely do her jail time from September 24-27.At that stage, “Nicole wants to get married first, and then serve her time,” the source says. “But she’s way too stressed about jail to plan the wedding, so she’s hiring a wedding planner to coordinate the details.”

They’ll most likely tie the knot at Joel’s mansion in Glendale, California, although Nicole’s dad, Lionel Richie, has offered his house in Bel-Air if they want to use it. The other, less public option is to head to Madden’s hometown near Annapolis, Maryland. “Joel doesn’t want a circus,” another friend says.Joel “feels a sense of responsibility toward Nicole,” the friend says. “Joel is scared – Nicole’s pregnancy is not something he’s taking lightly. It’s been anxious times for them, but Joel finally told her, ‘We need to get beyond all the bulls —t that is dragging us down and learn to lean on each other.’ That was music to Nicole’s ears – she couldn’t stand the thought of losing him and facing jail.

”Until now, Joel seemed to be dragging his heels when Nicole insisted they get married right away, the friend says. “He really hadn’t had time to process it all. The prospect of becoming a father was a pretty heavy hammer on him,” the friend says.

“But seeing how scared Nicole was about going to court brought out his protective streak. He truly wanted to give her something to hang onto. There are many times I thought he would throw in the towel with her, but the truth is, he really does love her.”

Reckless driving from Paris Hilton, Lindsay Lohan and Nicole Richie, has peaked a new interest in safety. Michelangelo Pinto of the Ferrari Driving School in New York told Chris Yandek of TheSportsInterview.com that LiLo’s alleged driving escapades prompted the Ferrari school to hold a special driver education day.”To help the driving public and young drivers, we are going to do a Paris, Nicole, and Lindsay Day where we are going to invite parents and their kids and drivers, or aspiring drivers, of all ages in for a couple hour sessions on how to drive safely and why to never drive under the influence.”

Lionel Richie has stated that his daughter”has made some mistakes in her life,” but is very responsible for her actions. He goes on to say,”She has not blamed others for her problems and is growing up very quickly, albeit in the heat of the media spotlight,” the R&B singer, 58, told UsMagazine.com. “My father taught me to stand straight and take whatever punishment or hardships were the result of my own actions, and I am proud that I was able to hand that philosophy down to my daughter.” Nicole Richie was sentenced last week to four days in jail and ordered to undergo drug and alcohol treatment.

So, Nicole’s court date has been set to July 11th. It should be interesting to see the outcome. I doubt the judge will make their full decision on that date as there will probably be a continuance. Today we have the 4th installment of the Simple Life goes to Camp. Another decent episode.

Yesterday, Nicole’s Lawyer was in the courtroom for a hearing regarding Nicole’s DUI from last December. Nicole has decided she will fight the charge in hopes of not spending a day in jail.

There hasn’t been any official confirmation from Nicole Richie regarding her pregnancy. However, the New York Post has reported that she and punk rocker boyfriend Joel Madden are engaged to be married. Reports say that at the couple were spotted at the YSL Pool Party, a charity event to benefit Center Dance Arts. It was hosted at the Beverly Hills Hotel.

Lindsay Lohan, as you may know, has been getting into a bit of a trouble with regards to drugs and alcohol abuse. There has been accusation after accusation and her name topping newspaper after newspaper. Lately, Lindsay Lohan’s former bodyguard and driver Lee Weaver gave a tell all story in an interview. He says that he has guarded many of the wildest stars in Hollywood and topping the charts was Lohan and a close second was Nicole Richie (oh no!). Here’s the story: (more…)

Tonight, as you may know, Nicole was flying solo on The Late Night Show with David Letterman. She was asked a lot of questions regarding Paris, regarding bad girls in Hollywood and regarding her new show. Nicole was asked about her DUI issue and if she was going to jail (to follow Paris). She replied with.. well i will let you see.
