While some stars turned to Twitter and their television sets to join the memorial of Michael Jackson, Nicole Richie with her boyfriend Joel Madden and dad, Lionel Richie went to the Staples Center to personally join the world and other Hollywood A-listers to give their final goodbyes to the King of Pop.

Nicole, who is due to give birth to her and Joel’s second baby in late summer may have been quiet – at least in her Twitter page – about her grief for the death of her godfather but her presence in the venue tells it all. Joel, the ever supportive and loving boyfriend was there not just to accompany Nicole to but to pay his last respect to music’s biggest icon as well.

Lionel on the other hand said his goodbyes to his friend by performing the classic sermon, “Jesus is Love” later returning on stage for an all-star performance of Michael Jackson’s 1985 hit “We Are the World.” The song Lionel co-wrote with Michael.

Well others may have taken it negatively when I once said I’m not a fan of Michael Jackson, but now I can truly say, Michael’s memorial sent me to tears. I didn’t think of being a fan or not anymore; what I saw was a king being missed and loved by his friends, family, and fans throughout the world. I was actually in tears seeing Michael’s daughter, Paris speaking up for her father. Such heavy and emotional part that was.

Rest in peace, Michael. You will be missed forever.

Well it looks like couples Nicole Richie and Joel Madden have more reasons for catching the season 8 finale of American Idol live yesterday. Aside from the obvious fact that the two are huge Idol fans, Nicole’s dad, Lionel Richie had also made an appearance at the show.

That’s right folks! Completing the stellar performances of last night’s event, Lionel Richie did a soulful duet of medley with AI finalist, Danny Gokey who opened the number with his rendition of Lionel’s “Hello”.

Other A-listers in the music industry who performed at the event were Queen Latifah, Keith Urban, Fergie, Cyndi Lauper, KISS, Carlos Santana, and Rod Stewart among others.

All in all, it was quite a night not just for American Idols fans but for the American music industry as well.

Well it’s not trivia that socialite Nicole Richie and her rocker boyfriend, Joel Madden are huge American Idol fans. So it is of course not news that they have to be on the show’s season finale last night (May 20) aside from the obvious reason that Nicole’s dad, Lionel Richie also performed in the show.

Clad in a halter maxidress with her hair braided neatly, the mom-to-be for the second time was sure beaming in the audience sitting beside the love of her life – that’s you Joel, as they stood witness in the conclusion of the 8th season of the show.

And proving that they have indeed enjoyed the night’s show, both Nicole and Joel went to Twitter the experience right away.

“I’m going to wait until tomorrow to comment on American Idol because every time I do, I get in trouble for spoiling it,” an excited and definitely enthusiastic sounding Nicole Twittered. While Joel an impressed Joel updated, “Honestly Adam and Kris were both great. But watching Adam preform with Queen, he really held his own. I was impressed. I really get him now.”

Oh well I guess by now you would have already known who bagged the title as American Idol Season 8 winner, right?! Okay, granting you haven’t, it’s – drum rolls please – Kris Allen!

Too bad I wasn’t able to catch the show’s finale… darn!

Anyway, I’m just glad Kris Allen won; not that I didn’t like Adam Labert. Contrary to that I’m one big Lambert fan but then with Kris’s good looks, I just couldn’t help but swoon over him, too.

Aside from the fashionista, there is one side of Nicole Richie that I found out as I am following her on Twitter. – A fanatic.

Updating her blog from her official website and of course basing from her Twits, the mom to Harlow has been very open to how excited she was to watch Britney Spears’s concert.

Here’s what she wrote:

“Friday night I went to the Britney Spears concert and had the time of my life! I have been a huge Britney fan since I was 16 and have been to all of her concerts. I think I went to 5 shows of her last tour.
I have been looking forward to seeing her back on stage for years, and it was amazing! It was really hard to get pictures because she never stood still; I yelled and asked her to but she was too busy tending to her 50,000 other fans :).”

This is one thing I love about Nicole; she can be just like us too – a fan who go gaga over her idol.
