According to US Weekly, Nicole Richie must serve 96 hours at Lynwood County Jail by Sept. 28th for her DUI. “Usually [the sheriff] will interpret that as a sentence of four days and have her serve two,” says Santa Monica, California, criminal attorney Alec Rose. Count on a day off for good behavior, and “if you arrive at 11:50 p.m. and they book you in, you’ve served the day…I’d get the client in at 10:45 in case there’s a line.”

Sources who attended a Hot 99.5 concert last night in D.C., featuring Madden’s band Good Charlotte say that Joel told the crowd that he proposed to Nicole on Thursday. It is looking as if their child will be born in wedlock and hopefully they’ll have a great future together as a family.

Speculation has run wild for months over whether Madden and Nicole would tie the knot, with anticipation reaching a fever pitch since Nicole confirmed her pregnancy earlier this month. Regis Philbin broached the subject this morning when he welcomed Madden and his band, Good Charlotte, to ABC’s “Live with Regis and Kelly.” “You’re going to present her, maybe, with – did I hear the right thing, or should I not even talk about this?” Regis said to Joel. When Madden replied with an “uh, what?,” Regis quickly got to the point.”A little ring, or something,” he prodded.”I was hoping it would be a surprise,” laughed Madden, “but uh…”But nothing! Joel didn’t finish the sentence.

Regis, with a quick “ah dammit,” turned straight to Joel’s identical twin brother, Benji, and said, “What’s new with you, big boy?”Madden’s and Richie’s lips have been sealed about when (and if) they intend to marry, but could Joel have hinted at something real when Regis put him on the spot?Only time will tell. For now, Madden is all about preparing for his child with Nicole, who is currently 4 1/2 months into her term.”Yeah, we’re expecting a baby,” he said this morning, to cheers from the audience. “I did it.”He told Regis and Kelly that he’s been reading up on the subject, with books such as “What to Expect When You’re Expecting,” “The Expectant Father” and “Baby Signs.”

Nicole Richie decided to take some time to tone up at a gym in NYC. She was in town to watch her boyfriend Joel Madden’s band Good Charlotte open for Justin Timberlake at Madison Square Garden last night, and the Simple Life actress took the afternoon to exercise at the Equinox gym. A witness told press, “She looked very pregnant. She was there for around 90 minutes to two hours. And she was with a bald guy. He looked like her trainer or bodyguard.”

Maybe she’s trying to toughen up for her upcoming jail stay. She will serve four days in the jail before September 28th, per the plea agreement she has made with the LA County Court. Enjoy these pictures of her at the gym and later at the concert.

Lionel Richie springs a great surprise on daughter Nicole and his future son-in-law, Joel Madden- a posh townhouse for raising their baby. The article is as follows:

Lionel Richie played coy when reports first emerged that his daughter Nicole was pregnant with her first baby. But now grandpa will make sure Nicole has a splendid home in which to bring up her baby. Lionel surprised his daughter and her rocker boyfriend, Joel Madden, with a $2 million townhouse in the Century City area of Los Angeles, reports the National Enquirer.

A tearful Lionel told Nicole and Joel about their baby present in a phone call shortly after the interview aired. “They were overwhelmed,” disclosed the insider. “All three of them cried happy tears over the phone. Lionel has vowed that even though he wasn’t around much as a parent, he’s going to be a dynamite granddaddy.”
