Nicole Richie Watch

Well I am not supposed to do this post as I know this would be too petty for an argument. However, reading one comment posted on my last post, I realized some fans may have misunderstood me all along.

First of all, I am not – NEVER – a Michael Jackson hater, but I am not a fan either. In that last post I made that really apparent. Being neither a hater nor fan doesn’t make me douche I believe. I had to read that post back to check if there was something offensive I wrote other than admitting my not being a fan, and honestly I still can’t see what offended the others (if I missed something please tell me, but please don’t be rude).

Copying from my opening sentence in that article I wrote, “I may not be a huge fan but I am joining with the whole world in mourning for the death of the King of Pop, Michael Jackson.” Wasn’t the “but I am joining with the whole world in mourning for the death of the King of Pop,” enough to show my respect for MJ?

Second, with one commenter saying “…show some respect to Nicole,” wasn’t that what that post was about? I made an entry about Michael Jackson’s death here – even if this is a Nicole Richie blog – because I want to pay tribute to Jacko who happens to be Nicole Richie’s godfather, too.

Quoting again from that post, I believe when I wrote “I may not be a Michael Jackson fan, but I recognize how huge his loss is in the entertainment industry and in the lives of the people who love him,” I sincerely mean what it means.

I know I am ranting pointless here but I just want to let the readers of this blog know that it is never my intention to offend Michael Jackson fans out there.

I may not be a huge fan but I am joining with the whole world in mourning for the death of the King of Pop, Michael Jackson.

Michael, 50, passed away yesterday after he was taken to a Los Angeles hospital for a cardiac arrest.

So why are we talking about Michael Jackson here in Nicole Richie Watch?

Well for those of you who do not know, Michael is one of Nicole Richie’s godfathers – Quincy Jones is the other one. But while Quincy has already issued a statement regarding the King of Pop’s death, saying “I am absolutely devastated at this tragic and unexpected news. I’ve lost my little brother today, and part of my soul has gone with him,” the mom to Harlow mourned in silence when the news broke.

Joel Madden, Nicole’s boyfriend, has however updated his Twitter page saying, “I’m getting off the computer. Gonna spend time with my family. It was a sad day. Need a break from all of this. Rest in Peace Michael.”

Again, I may not be a Michael Jackson fan, but I recognize how huge his loss is in the entertainment industry and in the lives of the people who love him. I am also sure that Nicole Richie is among these people who are saddened and devastated by this news.

For having touched the lives of the many and inspiring a lot of people with his music, rest in peace, Michael, from us here in Nicole Richie Watch.

As first time parents to Harlow Winter Kate last year, it is quite expected for Nicole Richie and Joel Madden to struggle on the adjustments and of course the huge changes in their lives.

Now that Nicole is carrying her second baby with the Good Charlotte rocker, how was it different compared to the first?

Well Joel shared that this time around, things are actually easier as far as Nicole’s second pregnancy is concern.

“It’s a lot easier. You’ve already been through it and it’s not as intense and dramatic. We’re a little more relaxed. It’s actually kind of nice.” he said last Friday to People before deejaying at Prive Las Vegas.

But if they’ve already known the sex of the baby already, Joel just said: “We don’t know what the sex is. We waited on the first one and it was such an awesome experience that we can’t wait to see what the next one is. It’s exciting to wait it out.”

If you can remember, Nicole, during her interview at the Larry King Live also revealed that she’d rather just wait ‘til the baby comes out for her to find out her baby’s sex.

Obviously these two love surprises. I guess that’s one of the reasons why fans do not get tired of them. I love this pair. In spite being rich and famous there’s just something about Nicole Richie and Joel Madden that’s just like any of us.

As for Nicole’s second pregnancy, what’s important is that she and the baby are safe and healthy.

… and belated Happy Fathers Day to come with that.

Well it seems like I am having quite a lot of belated greetings here in Nicole Richie Watch. My apologies for having been uber busy these days and probably the next days to come. Anyway, better late than never is one of my principles in life, so here I am catching up with all the delayed greetings.

And yes, as the title said, I am sending my delayed birthday greeting to Nicole’s handsome and loving father, Lionel Richie.

Although not Nicole Richie’s biological father, Lionel in all his 60 years – at least most of it – have always been there for our petite fashionista in all her lowest and highest. I guess this is no wonder why despite him admitting not being the perfect father for our Nicole, the latter has been too adamant to defend him and has in fact acknowledged the singer for being a good father to her.

Now that Nicole has a family already, Lionel was just too cool to add another role to play; being a grandfather. He once said in an interview, “First of all, your baby is going to have a baby. Second, what is this grandpa thing? But then once Harlow showed up, you could call me grandpa so many times that I wouldn’t care. You fall in love with The Mouse — I call her (Harlow) The Mouse.”

Well Nicole just seems too lucky to have Lionel as a father. Check out the photo above that Nicole posted on her official website. A daddy’s girl now and then… what a priceless moment…

I know this is a bit late for a Fathers Day greeting here in Nicole Richie Watch, but I would still do it nonetheless. Happy Fathers Day!

If the previous month we’ve hailed-er acknowledged Nicole Richie for being a magnificent mom to her little angel, Harlow Winter Kate, today is Joel Madden’s turn to be given due recognition for his being a father to his 1-year-old daughter and one coming.

With his image as a rock star, most people would assume Joel to be the carefree, goodie-goodie one. However, since Harlow was born last year, everybody has seen how the rocker that he is was softened. In fact, since becoming a father to Harlow, Joel has all been gushing about his being a father.

Quoted just days after Harlow was born, Joel shared a heartwarming statement of what fatherhood did to him, “I had no idea what love even was until Harlow came along. I swear it’s so hard to leave during the day, but always so rewarding to come home to the little family. I’ve always been a guy who loves to love. Probably one of the things that define me outside of my work is LOVE.”

In his Twitter profile yesterday, Joel also tweeted: “I’ve said stupid things, done stupid things and made alot of mistakes, for all of that i’m sorry, being a Dad kind of gives u a 2nd chance.”

Of course we know Joel isn’t just all words about fatherhood. We’ve seen how hands on he was as far as being a doting father to Harlow is concern. Despite his busy schedule – with all his gigs and shows – we still see Joel spending time with Harlow and of course with Nicole. How lucky Nicole is, right?

Happy Fathers Day!

Well it looks like more and more Hollywood celebrities are joining Nicole Richie in support to the abused women in Congo.

That’s right folks, aside from Nicole, big stars like Jennifer Aniston, Courteney Cox, and Sheryl Crow have appeared as guest hosts to the OmniPeace event with founder Mary Fanaro with their one goal to “Stamp Out Violence Against Women and Girls of the Congo.” The event was also attended by our petite fashionista and mom to Harlow.

Speaking to People to her new outlook, Nicole shared, “I’m all about making people aware and showing them what the problem is. It’s impossible to turn your back on something like this. It’s really hard to complain about anything when you hear the stories of these women and children and their torture.”

Meanwhile, Jennifer Aniston shared about her thoughts of the cause saying, “I am extremely lucky. But these women and girls need help – it makes you think.” Her Friends co-star and real-life bestfriend, Courtney Cox also added, “We can do something about this. I want to bring awareness to this.”

Sheryl Crow also shared, “I know I have a responsibility. As a mom, the biggest thrill for me, but most humbling role is raising my kid as a humanitarian. I want him to grow up feeling he can do something for people less fortunate.”

Well I guess this also has to be a wake up call to all of us. We don’t have to be as huge as these stars to make a change. In our own little ways we can help stop violence to women and girls in Congo by buying shirts from Kitson.

No, Nicole Richie is still very much with Joel Madden and Pete Wentz is still very much married to Ashlee Simpson. But good friends as they are, the two have teamed up for a fashion show to showcase their respective clothing lines.

Last Thursday (June 4), the two celebrities attended the House of Harlow 1960 and Clandestine Industries Switch Boutique fashion show at Boulevard3 in Hollywood, California. With Pete looking unusually neat and tidy in a black ensemble and Nicole radiant in a charming tunic, the fashion show has served as another bonding moment for the pals and their families – Ashlee was their to support her husband and Joel for Nicole.

Meanwhile, as if playing publicist to Pete, Nicole managed to save the singer with the media’s asking about the alleged fight between Pete’s wife Ashlee and his ex-girlfriend, Michelle Trachtenberg, she said: “That’s not appropriate.”

Such a good friend Nicole is huh. Obviously she really does adore Pete (in probably the most probably way) as she once updated her Twitter page saying, “@JoelMadden well @petewentz is very charming, sweet, handsom… Now that I think about it honey, maybe its best you stay home.”

Well I personally am not a fan of Pete Wentz as most of the times he’s being such a douche but if our dear Nicole adores him this much, I guess there must be something special about him.

Now I know this is quite not natural for a fan like me not to be curious about where Nicole Richie and her boyfriend, Joel Madden live, but I honestly haven’t really thought about it until I stumbled upon this post featuring the new home that the couple reportedly purchased recently.

I know they’re living in together and that they’re quite happy with their growing family. i had the impression that Nicole lives with Joel’s Glendale home but turns out they really do have a home they purchased as a couple.

Here are some details I gathered about the pair’s Spanish style home in the Outpost estate:

Considering the two’s status – belonging to the ‘rich and famous’ – I think their house is actually homey. It seems great to imagine it bearing witness to Nicole and Joel’s growing family. I can picture little Harlow running around with mom and dad getting cozy somewhere in the house. Oh well, I’m sure this ain’t the only house the two has but at least we now have an idea about their nest.

If we may recall, Nicole Richie once revealed in Larry King Live that she’s actually wanting her second baby’s name a surprise. She said: “We want the surprise. What is there really to plan? I’ll get the clothes after.”

However, it seems like the media’s been speculating too much to have already assumed the former reality star to be having a boy this time. In fact, they seem to have assumed to much that they even claim to have a source telling them what Nicole and her boyfriend, Joel Madden would name their second baby.

A source (wonder why they remain anonymous when they claim to be friends of the star) recently told Star Magazine that Baron would be the potential name of baby number 2. Said the source, “When she heard Donald Trump had named his baby that, she told Joel she really liked it.” Hmmm, wasn’t Paris Hilton’s younger brother’s name is Baron? I’m sure this wasn’t the first time she’s heard of the name.

‘Pals’ were also said to have shared about what they know Nicole might name her baby.

“She also likes the names Kypher, a mythological creature, and Martavious, which means ’special one.’ She wants something that’s going to get a lot of attention.”

Now this is funny, on his Twitter profile, Joel happened to write: “Styles is such a great name.” Is he referring to Harlow’s coming little sister or brother here? And wait, isn’t Styles a name for girls? I guess this just proves to say that not even he and Nicole still know their next baby’s sex, so those baby name rumors would just have to remain rumors.

Obviously helping out another of his rocker friends, Joel Madden has used the music of It Boys for another episode of DCMA TV.

Filming even in a roller coaster, Joel and his friends definitely showed once again how exciting they are living their lives. As usual, Joel looked just gorgeous and hot! We see him and his friends – I think even his brother Benj’s also there – going crazy with each other with photos that Joel has once posted in his Twitter profile.

Well this is the first time I heard the music of the It Boys and it surprisingly ain’t bad at all. In fact, I won’t actually mind having it on my playlist. It’s cool actually. Then again, I guess I wouldn’t appreciate the music much had it not been used in this video.

Once pregnant, I sure know how it feels when insecurity and hormones strike all together. I always had that feeling that I’m getting uglier and uglier as days pass by and as my baby bump grows everyday.

But I guess some girls just get all the luck to be looking prettier and prettier with their pregnancy. Nicole Richie must be one of these girls.

With her Jet thrashed jeans matched with a simple grey ‘tee over a black ‘tee, who would ever think of insecurity and hormones when Nicole is nothing but a picture of a happy, pretty, and excited mom-to-be. In fact, had it not been for that bump, I wouldn’t think she’s pregnant at all!

Oh, how I wish I can just be Nicole. On second thought, I’m not so might as well stick with that.

Being doting parents as they always are, Nicole Richie and Joel Madden took their little Harlow on a special afternoon in Beverly Hills last Sunday (May 31).

Clad in a sunflower patterned outfit and a twisty coif, the 16-month old tot enjoyed the sight and activities at the Greystone Mansion for the 3rd Annual Kidstock Music and Art Festival. With her dad in blue plaids and mom still looking stylish in spite the growing baby bumps, it sure was an afternoon of pure bonding for the Richie/Madden family.

Well looking at this photo of the family, I understood better Nicole’s point in not planning to get married yet. I mean, aside from the wedding bells, what else does this family doesn’t have? They obviously adore and love each other so that is more than enough.

With baby number two coming it is inevitable for Nicole Richie and Joel Madden to be asked about marriage. Unfortunately, fans like me may have to put that wedding hopes aside as the former reality star and her rocker boyfriend seem to have other things in their minds yet.

Talking to Larry King Live with her father, Lionel last Thursday the mom to Harlow and very pregnant for the second time shared about her thoughts on marriage and getting married on day.

She said, “…right now, we’re really, really focused on our family, we’re focused on our foundation and as far as feeling that need of commitment, we both really have that in each other.”

As to the sex of her next baby, Nicole shares, “We want the surprise. What is there really to plan? I’ll get the clothes after.” This, her father inserted saying, “Joel and I are having powwows. I want a grandson.”

“You should here them prepping each other, wishing for a boy,” Nicole buts in.

Well I, too wish Nicole and Joel have a boy. It’s always cute to have a pair.

On the other hand, I am so in to Nicole here about the marriage thing. She and Joel are obviously in-love with each other so wedding bells would just be icing on the cake. We’ve seen a lot of pairs in Hollywood today with grand wedding yet just end up filing divorce. I guess we just have to wait and see what these two would have in the future.

Right now, let’s just be excited waiting for Nicole’s next baby.

Well this wouldn’t be the first time I’m going to say this, but am saying it once again; kids always do bring good things in the family.

Take for example how Harlow Madden – daughter of Nicole Richie and Good Charlotte rocker, Joel Madden – has brought pleasant things to her own family. As shared by her grandfather, Lionel during an interview with Ebony magazine, the 1-year-old tot who he fondly calls as “The Mouse” served as a ‘healer’ in the family healing the long-running rift between the balladeer and his ex-wife Brenda.

He told the magazine: “First of all, your baby is going to have a baby. Second, what is this grandpa thing? But then once Harlow showed up, you could call me grandpa so many times that I wouldn’t care. You fall in love with The Mouse — I call her (Harlow) The Mouse.”

He added, “It brings joy to the entire family. All of a sudden Brenda, Nicole’s mom, and I are on the phone with the rest of the family. Because when The Mouse shows up, everybody drops whatever. (That) kind of erases all of the baggage.”

Obviously, Lionel has gotten over his fear of losing his ‘sex appeal’ with him being a grandfather. And with that adorable and charming little girl, whose heart just wouldn’t melt?

With Harlow alone the family already seems to be getting well. I wonder what kind of change will Nicole’s second baby bring to their clan? If Harlow healed the rift between Lionel and his ex-wife, do you think the second baby would bring them back together? Hmmm… who knows…
